Gary Valenciano is one of the judges of the new ‘Idol Kids Philippines’
Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano talked about working with singer-songwriter JK Labajo in this new Kapamilya show.
Gary’s journey in the entertainment industry has become an inspiration to many younger artists. Over the years, the veteran singer has shared his talent and wisdom with many singers, and he will continue to do this in his new stint.
He was chosen to be one of the judges of Idol Kids Philippines with Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, singer-actress Angeline Quinto, and JK Labajo. The show is set to premiere on June 28.

In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Gary Valenciano was asked about his working relationship with JK Labajo, and his answer was, “It’s the best!”
The OPM icon also said, “You know we didn’t know how it was going to end up, e. I don’t know JK that well.” Gary shared that what he just remembered was when JK lost in The Voice, and the latter would always call him “Sir Martin.”
“And I’d say, ‘Hoy! It’s Gary, ha?!’ ‘Oo nga pala, Sir Martin.’ You know, it’s always a running joke,” Mr. Pure Energy shared. From that, Gary has not seen JK. He just once again heard about JK when he worked with his son, director Paolo Valenciano.
Gary shared that Paolo came to him and said that JK is awesome. He also shared that his son shared that JK’s “songs may say things that you probably would never be able to do, or do collab together, but Dad, he’s really all heart. That’s really what he is. What you see is what you get.”

Paolo was surprised when Gary told him that they were working together in Idol Kids Philippines. The veteran performer also said that he is enjoying every moment, and they keep texting each other.
Gary shared that JK invited him to come to their gig. When the OPM icon asked what it was all about, the younger singer said that it was about losers. He explained that it was because he lost in The Voice while the other one lost in a different competition.
Gary Valenciano’s generosity reflected when he said, “And I said, ‘Son’ — I call him son, e — ‘Son, just tell me, OK. Once I’m open, game!”
