OVP Gives Statement on Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Arrival from Australia

SARA DUTERTE – The Office of the Vice President said the VP has arrived in the Philippines from her “personal trip” to Australia.

Recently, the frequent travels of Vice Pres. Duterte abroad has hooked the attention of many Filipinos. Even Malacañang was asked of its side after the Vice President has visited four (4) countries in less than a month.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte went to Doha, Qatar after the 2025 Midterm Elections to meet with the Filipinos there. After it, she went to The Hague, Netherlands for scheduled visits to her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who recently marked his 100th day in detention under the ICC or the International Criminal Court.

Vice Pres. Duterte also went to Malaysia where she celebrated the Philippine Independence Day with the Filipino community there. Recently, she flew for a “personal trip” to Australia.

It was previously reported that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was set to atted a rally calling for her father’s release in Australia. The side of the Palace was sought over the frequent travels of the Vice President abroad.

Malacañang Claire Castro

Malacañang previously raised a question on whethe Duterte’s trip to Australia is for a personal purpose or for the country. Palace press undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro also said that there is nothing they can do if the Vice President is busy with her travels abroad citing that she has been to four (4) countries in less than a month.

Castro also said that the people are seeing what the elected official is doing. According to her, the Vice President is possibly committing a violation against her obligations to the Filipino people.

Recently, the Office of the Vice President announced that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is now back in the Philippines from her trip to Australia. Based on a report on PhilStar, the OVP said Duterte arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) around 1:10 p.m. on Philippine Airlines flight PR 210.

The Vice President is set to lead todays 2025 KASARILYAAN, the annual Pride Reception of her office to be held in San Fernando City, Pampanga. Based on the report, the event is expected to gather LGBTQIA+ community leaders, advocates and allies.

When she was in Melbourne, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte revealed that Australia is one of the countries eyed by the lawyers of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte for his interim release. The camp of the former President has filed for an interim release bid to the ICC.
