Camp of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Believes Impeachment Case “Unconstitutional”
SARA DUTERTE – The camp of the Vice President has submitted a response to the summons over the impeachment complaint against her.
After Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero took his oath as the presiding officer of the impeachment court in the trial of Vice Pres. Duterte and the rest of the senators taking their oath as senator judges, the Senate impeachment court decided on a motion to remand the Articles of Impeachment.

The motion to return Duterte’s impeachment to the House is in line with issues over its constitutionality as well as a proposal to require a reconfirmation from the 20th Congress. Eighteen senator’s voted for the return of Duterte’s impeachment to the House which Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero said is not a dismissal of the case.

As Escudero stressed that the impeachment case against Duterte is not dismissed nor terminated by the remand of the Articles of Impeachment, the Senate President supported his claim that summons was sent to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. She was given until June 23 to respond to the summons.

Before the deadline is over, the camp of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte submitted the Answer Ad Cautelam. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, House spokesperson Atty. Princess Abantehas said the response of Duterte’s camp was delivered at the House of Representatives by Arnel Barrientos Jr., a messenger from the law firm Fortun, Narvasa & Salazar.

In her response to the Articles of Impeachment against her, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte asserted that the impeachment case “must be dismissed” for its alleged unconstitutionality. The camp of the VP claimed that the impeachment complaint allegedly violated the “One-Year Bar Rule under Section 3 (5) Article XI of the 1987 Constitution”.
Previously, some House members said the Section 3 (5) of Article XI of the 1987 Constitution said will only kick-in after an impeachment complaint was referred to the House of Representatives.
Amid the rift between them, Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed that he has no role in the impeachment process of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. He stressed that he is busy on the things that would benefit the Filipino people and the country. The claim of the Chief Executive came amid the belief of the Duterte camp that the Marcos administration allegedly wants the Vice President out.
