Manila City Government Seeks Help from MMDA Over Trash Problem
The Manila City Government reportedly seeks help from MMDA over the increasing trash problem in the city.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has been officially asked by the local government of Manila to help with the city’s growing garbage problem.
The Manila Department of Public Service (DPS) says that their two waste management companies, MetroWaste Solid Management Corporation and Philippine Ecology Systems Corporation, have not lived up to their end of a P842.7 million contract.

Because of this, trash has been piling up in some parts of Manila, which has worried residents.
Jonathan Garzo, the officer in charge of the DPS, said that the city doesn’t have enough resources right now to deal with the trash problem. They don’t have enough people or garbage trucks, which makes it hard to pick up and throw away trash on time.
Even though these things are hard, the city’s street sweepers keep doing their best to clean the main roads and help with trash collection when they can.

The Manila LGU asked the MMDA for help because things were getting worse. MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes quickly told his team to help Manila clean up the trash that has been piling up in different parts of the city.
People in the area are hoping that this joint effort will help with cleanliness and sanitation. The city government also wants people to know that they are working hard to fix the problem and are working closely with the MMDA to find better ways to do things.

The government wants to make Manila cleaner and safer for everyone, so proper waste management is still a top priority.
