After ordering courtesy resignations, President Bongbong Marcos accepts more.
PRESIDENT BONGBONG MARCOS – The President ordered courtesy resignations of all his cabinet secretaries and accepted more as of this writing.
After the Commission on Elections or COMELEC officially proclaimed the winners of the 2025 Senatorial Election, President Bongbong Marcos ordered the courtesy resignations of all his cabinet secretaries. Only six (6) candidates endorsed by Marcos Jr.’s Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago won a seat in the Senate.

He has come to the realization that people are dissatisfied with the government’s service and are tired of political maneuvering. The Chief Executive stressed that the call for courtesy resignations is not business as usual, as he wanted recalibration of the administration.
While many obeyed his call, he had several rejected. Marcos rejected the courtesy resignations of his economic team amid the reshuffle.
The retained ones making up his economic team are:
- Finance Secretary Ralph Recto
- Trade Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque
- Department of Planning, Economy, and Development (DEPDev) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan
- Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman
- Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go
Previously, he stated that the entire PH government is “on probation,” as he wanted to eliminate those who would stop him from doing his job.
As the reshuffle goes on, more courtesy resignations from government officials have been accepted by the president. Presidential Adviser on Legislative Affairs Mark Leandro Mendoza, Presidential Adviser on Military and police affairs Roman Felix, and PNOC Renewables Corporation President and CEO John Jay Arenas will no longer continue in their positions.
GSIS President and General Manager Jose Arnulfo Veloso, Landbank President and CEO Lynette Ortiz, Development Bank of the Philippines President and CEO Michael de Jesus, National Irrigation Administrator Eduardo Guillen, PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles, Philhealth Acting President and CEO Edwin Mercado, meanwhile, were retained.
The evaluations continue according to Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, and she also said, “Patuloy pa rin po ang pag-eevaluate, asahan nilang mas marami pang pangalan ang maaari pang maisama sa maaaring maretain o sa maaaring matanggal.”
