In Cebu City, a male student is showing everyone that it’s never too late to continue one’s education. AJ Sumampong is currently enrolled in Grade 2 at Buhisan Elementary School, studying alongside classmates who are only 7 and 8 years old.
Despite the big age gap, he remains determined and focused on his goal of becoming a policeman someday.
While others his age are already in senior high school or even college, AJ is just starting with the basics. But instead of feeling embarrassed or discouraged, he chooses to move forward with courage.
One of the main reasons for his late schooling is his responsibilities at home. He helps his mother with housework and takes care of his younger siblings. His responsibilities delayed his education, but he never gave up on the dream of going back to school.
