Malacañang on Sara Duterte’s Claim More PDP Bets Should have Won: “Wish lang nila iyon, libre naman mangarap”

Statement of Malacañang on VP Sara Duterte Doubting 2025 Election Results

Malacañang reacted to the claim of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte that more PDP-Laban bets should have won the 2025 Elections.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte campaigned fervently not only for presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos and Las Piñas District Representative Camille Villar in the 2025 Elections. The Duterte siblings went full force to campaign for the senatorial bets of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

The Vice President and her siblings campaigned for the PDP-Laban bets or the #Duter10. The PDP’s senatorial slate was composed of the following:

  • Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go
  • Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa
  • Congressman Rodante Marcoleta
  • singer Jimmy Bondoc
  • Jayvee Hinlo
  • Raul Lambino
  • actor Philip Salvador
  • Atty. Victor Rodriguez
  • Pastor Apollo Quiboloy
  • Doc Marites Mata

Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s longtime partner, Honeylet Avanceña, also relayed the message of the former President to the Filipino people to just forget him if they will forget his senatorial bets. The Duterte family called on the Filipinos to vote straight the #Duter10.

However, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was disappointed by the results of the 2025 Midterm Elections. Only five (5) of the senatorial candidates endorsed by the Vice President won seats in the Senate. They are:

  • Sen. Imee Marcos
  • Las Piñas District Rep. Camille Villar
  • Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go
  • Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa
  • Congressman Rodante Marcoleta

The Vice President called on the Filipinos to help build a stronger opposition. Recently, at a Philippine Independence Day celebration in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed her belief that more PDP bets should have won the 2025 Elections. According to her, she has talked to IT experts who also allegedly find the results impossible.

The Vice President stressed that Jayvee Hinlo, singer Jimmy Bondoc, and Doc Marites Mata won in the OFW and Absentee voting. According to her, in 2022, she also knew she was winning in the vice presidential race after she won in the OFW and Absentee voting.

Recently, Malacañang reacted to the claim of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte that more PDP bets should have won the May 2025 Elections. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Palace press secretary Atty. Claire Castro called it a “wishful thinking”.

“Well, sa mga ganito kasi, wish lang nila iyon; libre naman ang mangarap. Ang pangarap na iyon sa ngayon ay hindi mangyayari. Ang pangarap sana ay huwag gawing reyalidad baka maraming maniwala,” the Malacañang official said.

The Malacañang Press Officer called for respect to the results of the 2025 Elections. Based on the report, Castro accused the Vice President of allegedly trying to malign the credibility of the previous elections and the Commission on Elections.

“So, kung ano po ang resolusyon, ang naging resulta ng eleksiyon, igalang na lang po natin,” the Palace official said.

The Comelec also broke its silence on the claim of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte that more PDP-Laban bets should have won the 2025 Elections.
