In a speech, VP Sara Duterte expresses her doubts over the result.

This is what VP Sara Duterte said when she aired her thoughts about her doubts over the senatorial race results in the Halalan 2025.

Of the 12 winners in the Halalan 2025 senatorial race, five were reelectionists, while four got fresh mandates. Last month, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed the winning 12 senators at the Manila Hotel Tent City. The proclamation happened five days after the midterm elections.

In a previous article, Vice President Sara Duterte expressed her disappointment at the result of the senatorial race. Recently, in her speech during the celebration of Philippine Independence Day, she became open about her stand.

Here’s the final senatorial ranking in the 2025 elections:

  4. ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo – 17,118,881 votes
  5. Former Senator Francis Pangilinan – 15,343,229

For her, Jayvee Villanueva Hinlo, Jr., Jimmy Bondoc, and Richard Mata should have won.

“Tapos na naman ang kampanya, totoo yun, pero bakit nandito si Atty. Hinlo, Atty. Bondoc, Atty. Mata? Kasi po para sa akin at alam kong totoo, nanalo po sila sa eleksyon noong nakaraan,” she said. The vice president accordingly consulted experts and these experts also questioned the results.

She based her observations on the 2022 elections.

COMELEC Chairperson George Garcia refused to comment on the VP’s statement, but expressed that she is free to express her opinion.

“No comment po. An expression of opinion by anyone in a democracy is free and therefore should be highly respected,” he said.
