The role of Budoy, played by Gerald Anderson, was in the 2011 Filipino drama series “Budoy,” and here’s what he said recalling this.

In a previous article, Gerald expressed that he is proud of his “Budoy” role, because it not only helped him boost his career and prove his worth as an actor, but it also served as an inspiration to people, especially people who have family members with a special condition.

In the interview with Luis Manzano, he was asked about the role he had in the past. According to him, even without the confirmation yet that the project will be given to him, he has already started learning how to do the role. He was that dedicated.

“Yung kinwento pa lang sa akin na may potential show ako, I was already working it na with myself, and then sa awa ng Diyos natuloy. But because of that work and the dedication, and the discipline, and the respect na binigay ko not just to special children but yung mga magulang nila,” he said.

Recalling that time, the role was challenging for him, but he leaned on the more positive side of this challenge and looked at the pressure as a privilege. He worked on himself to pull it off effectively, researched it, and fully immersed himself in the situation when he slept with people in that condition.

He recalled that doing it accordingly came out naturally from him, and it was because he had studied it months prior. One of the things he was also thankful for was that the show raised social awareness among people with special needs.
