Riding-in-Tandem Thieves Steal Bag from Parked Car in Cainta
A riding-in-tandem thieves opened the door of a parked vehicle and stole the passenger’s bag along Sumulong Highway in Brgy. San Isidro, Cainta, Rizal.
A parked car in Brgy. San Isidro, Cainta, Rizal became the target of riding-in-tandem thieves on the afternoon of May 25, 2025. The incident happened just after 3 p.m. while a 57-year-old woman waited inside the vehicle as her husband briefly stepped out to make a purchase.
The woman explained that she didn’t think much of it when a man walked near their car. Moments later, the suspect quickly opened the passenger door, grabbed her bag, and ran toward a waiting motorcycle.
“Ang naalala ko na lang nung nakita ko sa video kung paano niya ginawa nung lumabas si husband tinignan po niya kung saan pumunta at nung hindi na ho niya nakita, dun na niya pagbukas po ng sasakyan para kunin yung bag ko,” the victim said.
The two suspects immediately fled in the direction of Masinag, Antipolo. According to the police, the suspects appear to choose parked vehicles with visible valuable items inside.
The stolen bag contained around P40,000 in cash, two mobile phones, personal IDs, and other important belongings. Authorities noted that one of the suspects was wearing what appeared to be a uniform of a popular ride-hailing or motorcycle taxi service.
The disguise is a common trick used to blend in and avoid suspicion during the theft. Police officers from Cainta quickly coordinated with local officials to review CCTV footage.
Unfortunately, the nearby security cameras were found to be malfunctioning during the time of the incident. Investigators are now searching for other establishments in the area that might have caught the suspects on camera.
The police are reminding the public to always keep vehicle doors locked, even when waiting inside, and to avoid leaving valuable items in plain sight. Parking in well-lit, secure areas is also advised to prevent similar incidents from happening.
