Former Negros Oriental Cong. Arnie Teves Deported from Timor-Leste to PH

ARNIE TEVES – On his way back to the Philippines, the former Negros Oriental Congressman asked the authorities not to put handcuff on him.

Countless Filipinos were shocked when Teves was recently arrested in Timor-Leste where he was seeking refuge from the charges against him in PH for more than a year now. According to his son, Axl Teves, there were allegedly no documents nor arrest warrant when his father was taken.

Former Negros Oriental Cong. Teves who is the main suspect in the death of former Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo and nine (9) others were arrested by the immigration officers in Timor-Leste. The arrest took place at his residence in Dili.

The government of Timor-Leste decided to deport former Negros Oriental Cong. Arnie Teves. It cited his lack of a valid Visa and a legal authorization to stay in the country. The government ordered the deportation to took place immediately.

Teves filed a petition for writ of habeas corpus which challenged his detention. It was granted. However, yesterday, he was immediately deported via a Philippine Air Force plane.

Based on a post on Bombo Radyo Philippines, former Negros Oriental Cong. Arnie Teves asked the PH authorities not to put handcuff on him. He stressed that he won’t escape and the handcuff is painful for him.

However, the PH authorities did not grant the request of Teves. Based on the post, an official stressed that it is part of their Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

“Kahit sa kamay huwag na Sir… Sakit… Masakit. Huwag niyo na akong lagyan. Pakiusap lang, huwag na,” he said based on the post.

Previously, following the arrest of Teves, Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo, the widow of the late former Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo, expressed that she is looking forward to proper legal court proceedings. She remains in the pursuit to provide justice for the death of her “beloved Roel”.

Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos reacted to the return of Arnie Teves to the Philippines from Timor-Leste.
