What was the real score between Yen Santos and Albee Benitez? There have been photos of them circulating online amid the Bacolod City mayor’s issues after his wife, Nikki Benitez, filed a complaint against him.
These photos surfaced online without the true context about them. These were posted on Reddit and in the comments, several users have made their judgments and speculations, which inluded the old rumors about Yen and Chavit Singson, a politician and businessman, as well.
In a previous article, Benitez found it unsettling to see someone dragged into their issue. The politician called it a clear attempt to manipulate public opinion.
“This is a private matter. Involving individuals who have no bearing on the legal issues only inflames the situation and distracts from the facts,” his camp said, and warned about Section 44 of RA 9262, which mandates confidentiality of all proceedings and protection of all parties involved.
Meanwhile, according to Xian Gaza, Benitez and his wife have been separated for 21 years already. In a statement from his legal counsel where the mayor spoke about the VAWC complaint filed by his estranged wife, it was mentioned that he had bought properties using his own resources but titled in the name of Nikki.
He also bought her high-value assets such as condominium units, luxury vehicles, and a substantial amount of publicly listed shares registered under her name, and provided for her and her extended family even after they had already separated, including travel, business ventures, staff, and credit card charges
