This is what President Bongbong Marcos said regarding the calls of his critics.
Following his courtesy resignation call to his Cabinet members, President Bongbong Marcos rejected calls for him for resign from his post.
In a previous article, President Bongbong Marcos ordered department secretaries to resign as he wanted to make changes, and the first step he took was cleaning his cabinet members. He wanted to realign the government to the needs of the public.

Following his order for his Cabinet members to hand over their courtesy resignations, calls for him to resign his post emerged, and on Tuesday, he reacted to them. Former Duterte Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea believed it was Marcos who should leave his post.
Former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque also echoed the same stance, stating it was Marcos and not his cabinet officials that is the root of the problem.
“Ba’t ko gagawin ‘yun? At wala sa ugali ko ‘yung tinatakbuhan ang problema. So, what good will that do?” Marcos Jr. said when asked about the calls for him to resign.
“I’ll share with you one thing. That as we were doing the performance review, and when we see shortfalls in performance, I don’t leave it at that. I look and ask why is that the case? And that is why we ask all the heads of agencies to also submit their courtesy resignations because we have to look at deeper, not just look at the secretary,” he added.
While his critics are downplaying his leadership skills, he remains unfazed and has vowed to look at the problems deeply and fix them. He also would like to look deeply into the performances of his officials.
Meanwhile, in a previous article, Marcos Jr. retained his economic team amid the major changes he wanted to make. They are:
- Finance Secretary Ralph Recto
- Trade Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque
- Department of Planning, Economy, and Development (DEPDev) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan
- Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman
- Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go
The economic team goes after promoting the economy of the country and promoting the country as an investment destination. They also make plans to decrease the poverty rate to 9% by 2028, reduce the country’s debt-to-gross domestic product (GDP) ratio to below 60% by 2028, and achieve an economic growth rate of 6% to 8% between 2025 and 2028.
