Presidential Chief Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile died at 101, and in a statement, President Bongbong Marcos pays tribute to him.
In a statement and in an interview, Katrina Ponce Enrile, daughter of Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile, emotionally talked about the late public servant who lived for 101 years. He outlasted regimes, and after a couple of days in the ICU due to pneumonia, he passed away.

Enrile had a slim chance of surviving.
In an update from his daughter, Enrile died on November 13, 2025, at 4:21 PM in their home, and he was surrounded by his loved ones. Katrina added, “It was his heartfelt wish to take his final rest at home, with his family by his side. We were blessed to honor that wish and to be with him in those sacred final moments.”
After the news of his death, President Bongbong Marcos released a statement expressing sadness over the loss and paid tribute to him for his role as a public servant, who was in service for decades.
“We say goodbye to one of the most enduring and respected public servants our country has ever known,” Marcos Jr. said in a statement. He added that for 40 years, Enrile dedicated his life “serving the Filipino people, helping guide the country through some of its most challenging and defining moments.”
As per his words, even during his final years, he remained “brilliant, sharp, and firm” in serving the Filipino people through law and governance. Ge added that Enrile’s demise “marks the close of a chapter in our nation’s history.”
“Maraming salamat, Tito Johnny. Paalam at salamat sa isang buhay na buong puso mong inalay para sa bayan,” he said.
