FREDDIE AGUILAR WIFE – The Filipino singer and songwriter is survived by Jovie Albao, and here’s what the latter said as she said goodbye.
Filipino singer and songwriter Freddie Aguilar died at 72 on May 27. There were reports about him dying due to cardiac arrest arising from kidney complications and pneumonia. However, according to his wife, he died at the Philippine Heart Center due to multiple organ failure.

Based on Aguilar’s biography, he was married to Josephine Queipo in 1978, but this did not work out. They have four children: Maegan, Jonan, Isabella, and Jeriko. In 2013, he confirmed his relationship with 16-year-old Jovie Gatdula Albao, and they got married.
The Filipino singer and songwriter is survived by Jovie and his four children from his previous marriage. Aguilar was laid to rest at the Manila Islamic Cemetery on Tuesday and this was confirmed by the Muntinlupa City Muslim Affairs Office.
To recall, he converted to Islam in 2013, and based on Islamic faith, the dead must be buried within 24 hours of death.
In a Facebook post, Jovie wrote a short farewell to him with a vow to live a good life, so they could be together again. She added, “This is not goodbye, just farewell for now. Mahal na mahal kita, hanggang sa muli bhabe. It was a good fight, because we are fighting together.”
Meanwhile, “Katarungan,” “Pangako,” and “Luzviminda” are some of his songs, but it was his “Anak” that is the most successful and is considered the best-selling Philippine music record of all time. It sold 3 million copies worldwide and was translated into 51 languages.
Also, his rendition “Bayan Ko,” became an anthem during the 1986 People Power Revolution against the Marcos regime.
