Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on P20 per Kilo Rice Program of PH Gov’t
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President expressed his confidence in sustaining the P20 per kilo rice program of the government.
The most popular campaign promise of Pres. Marcos was to reduce the cost of rice to P20 per kilo. Rice is a staple food in the Philippines and many Filipinos will surely benefit from it once it is pushed through.

A few days before the 2025 Midterm Elections, the Department of Agriculture announced that P20 per kilo rice sale will be held in Visayas. Amid the criticisms, the DA stressed that the P20 per kilo rice is safe for human consumption and has a good quality.
However, as per the advice of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Agriculture department previously halted the delivery of the P20 per kilo rice to avoid it from being linked to the 2025 Midterm polls. Meanwhile, the department assured that it will resume right after the elections.

The Department of Agriculture also announced that the P20 per kilo rice will also be available in 32 areas in Luzon aside from Visayas after the elections. However, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, amid the feud between her and the President, has a different claim.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the government allegedly knows that it cannot deliver rice at P20 per kilo, thus, it stopped the program. Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos expressed his confidence that he can sustain the affordable rice for Filipinos.
”Watch me sustain it,” the President said as he spoke to the Philippine reporters as per a report on GMA News.
Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that he is finally able to fulfill his campaign promise of affordable rice now. He expressed understanding on the other views regarding the move of the government.
”We’ll talk in May of 2028, natuloy ba o hindi. We found a way. We found a way to do it. We found a way to do it. We could not do it before. Hindi kaya kasi hindi pa kaya ng sistema. Iba pa ‘yung presyo ng bigas noon,” he expressed.
Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos explained that the government needed to provide assistance to local farmers first that is why the fulfillment of his campaign promise took time. They also had to provide machinery for the farmers.
Previously, following Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s remarks questioning the safety and quality of the rice to be sold at P20 per kilo, Malacañang called on Vice Pres. Duterte not to be a termite in the society.
