Former Cop Handcuffs Himself to Tow Truck to Stop Authorities From Towing His Car

A former cop handcuffed himself to a tow truck cable in an attempt to prevent the authorities from towing his vehicle.

A man claiming to be a former police officer caused a scene in North Caloocan after he handcuffed himself to a tow truck to stop his car from being towed.

The incident happened during the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) “Bantay Sagabal” operation, which targets illegally parked vehicles. The man’s AUV was parked along Crispulo Street, an area the MMDA identified as a public road.

The man, however, argued that the towing was not valid since the road is part of a private subdivision and not under the MMDA’s jurisdiction. He insisted that their operation had no legal ground in the area.

To stop the towing, he locked himself to the tow truck using handcuffs, hoping it would force the team to back off.

Despite the protest, the MMDA stood firm. According to them, Crispulo Street is a public road and is covered by their clearing operations. After some time and tension, the man eventually agreed to remove the handcuffs, but the MMDA still issued him a violation ticket.

The incident drew attention from onlookers, some of whom recorded the confrontation. It has also sparked discussion online about road authority boundaries and how far some people go to avoid penalties.

The MMDA continues to remind the public that any road obstruction, even in subdivisions that fall under public road classification, may be subject to clearing operations. The incident serves as a reminder to park responsibly and follow traffic rules to avoid similar conflicts.
