Bato dela Rosa’s Claim about “ICC Investigators” Forcing Police To Testify Junked by ICC-Accredited Lawyer

BATO DELA ROSA – The recent claim of the reelected Senator that there are allegedly “ICC investigators” who force the police was junked by ICC-accredited lawyer Kristina Conti.

The controversial arrest of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte last March 11 caused political turmoil in the Philippine government. The former Chief Executive was arrested and his custody was turned over to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands.

Duterte is faced with an accusation of crimes against humanity before the ICC over his administration’s war on drugs. Sen. Bato dela Rosa, a known Duterte ally, tagged the arrest as Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ alleged “betrayal”.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who immediately flew to The Hague after the custody of her father was transferred to the ICC claimed that Pres. Marcos allegedly committed an “impeachable offense” over her father’s arrest. She stressed that Marcos Jr. should be held accountable.

Outgoing Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte also slammed Pres. Bongbong Marcos over his father’s arrest. He tagged the arrest as allegedly a “political maneuver” of the Marcos administration. He also stressed that it was his father who allowed the hero’s burial for Marcos Jr.’s dad, the late former dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

Recently, following the 2025 Elections, Pres. Bongbong Marcos said he is open to reconcile with the Duterte family. His statement gathered different reactions from the Filipinos including some Duterte ally.

Reelected Sen. Bato dela Rosa also reacted to the “reconciliation” remarks of Pres. Bongbong Marcos over the Duterte family. According to him, if the President is really sincere in what he said, he must deport the “ICC investigators” in the country who allegedly force the police to testify against him and Duterte.

Recently, ICC assistant to counsel Kristina Conti reacted to Sen. Bato dela Rosa’s claim over the alleged “ICC investigators” in the country. Based on a report on GMA News, the ICC-accredit lawyer denied Dela Rosa’s claim saying that the ICC does not make testimonies for the witnesses or force them on what to say.

Conti further stressed that the questions involved in the probe are under strict guidelines. Based on the report, the ICC-accredited lawyer also claimed that there are camera recordings with regards to the testimonies of the witnesses.

Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the name of Sen. Bato dela Rosa is one of those that are in the ICC list of persons who might be arrested.
