Press Officer of Malacañang Says Marcos Jr. Won’t Bend Law for Reconciliation

MALACAÑANG – The Palace spoke about President Bongbong Marcos days after he made the “reconciliation” remarks.

Following the 2025 Elections, Pres. Bongbong Marcos said he is willing to mend ties with the Duterte family. It is no secret to the public that the Chief Executive and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte share a soured relationship since she left his cabinet.

Marcos Jr. is heavily-blamed not only by the Duterte’s but as well as the supporters of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte over the former Chief Executive’s controversial arrest. Many people claimed that the President allegedly committed betrayal and insulted the sovereignty of the Philippines.

Malacañang previously defended Pres. Bongbong Marcos from betrayal accusations over Duterte’s arrest. According to the Palace, the government only did its job and acted on its commitment with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).

Amid the political turmoil in the Philippine government, Pres. Bongbong Marcos recently claimed that he is open to reconciliation with the Duterte family. Following his statement, Malacañang clarified that the Chief Executive will not bend the law for reconciliation.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Malacañang said Pres. Bongbong Marcos won’t allow anyone to control nor be dictated to do wrong. Palace press officer Atty. Claire Castro said he won’t bend the law for the personal interest of a few.

“Hindi magpapahawak sa leeg at hindi magpapadikta ang Pangulo sa mali… Hindi tatalikuran ng Pangulo at babaliktarin ang batas para lang pagsilbihan ang personal na interes ng iilan,” Castro said.

Furthermore, based on the report, Castro said Marcos Jr. will always abide by the rule of law. According to her, the reconciliation was just to avoid conflicts and for the government to have a stability so he can fulfill his promises to the country.

“Ang rekonsilyasyon lamang po ay para hindi na magkaroon ng gulo at para magkaroon ng stability at matupad niya ang mga pangako niya sa bayan,” the Malacañang official said.

Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said she knows that the P20 per kilo rice is doable but she does not want to help Pres. Bongbong Marcos so she won’t say how it can be achieved.
