BONGBONG MARCOS – The President spoke on the impeachment of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte amid a looming trial by the Senate.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is faced with a looming impeachment trial by the Senate. Previously, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero showed the official robe that he will use in Duterte’s impeachment trial. The Filipino people have divided attention about the trial.

The House of Representatives impeached Vice Pres. Sara Duterte last February 5. She is surrounded by several allegations and questions including the issues on the spending of the Confidential Funds of the OVP and the Department of Education.

The Filipino populace noticed a souring relationship between Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Pres. Bongbong Marcos after the former resigned from being the DepEd Secretary and left the Marcos cabinet. Amid their feud, the President previously said he is not in favor of the impeachment.

The Duterte camp claimed that the Marcos administration allegedly want Vice Pres. Duterte removed from office. According to the Vice President, she has already accepted whether she will be acquitted or found guilty in the impeachment trial.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said her lawyers are “more than confident” to win the impeachment trial. According to her, her confidence is on her legal team who handles the case.

Recently, speaking with broadcaster Anthony Taberna, Pres. Bongbong Marcos was asked if he could categorically say that he is against the impeachment of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on Inquirer, the Chief Executive wants the issue to be left in the Senate.

“The impeachment is now with the Senate. Let’s leave it to them, there is a process for that,” Marcos Jr. said.

Furthermore, based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that the 2025 Elections are over and they have to go back to work. The President and Vice Pres. Duterte supported different senatorial slates in the midterm poll.

Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte even called on the Filipinos not to vote for Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ candidates in the elections. Six (6) bets from the Marcos-backed Alyansa made it to the Top 12 of the senatorial race while five (5) candidates endorsed by Duterte won.
