No Grade 13 for Senior High School, Says DepEd
The Department of Education (DepEd) explained that Grade 13 in Senior High School next school year is ‘fake news’.
Recently, education department has addressed the social media post claiming that Grade 13 will be introduced starting School Year 2025-2026. DepEd clarified that there will be no additional grade level added to Senior High School.
Currently, Senior High School in the Philippines only includes Grade 11 and Grade 12. There are no plans to change this setup. The agency stressed that people should always check if the information they see online is true. It’s important to follow only the official DepEd pages for real updates and announcements.

The viral post caused confusion among students and parents. Many began asking whether they would need to stay another year in school. To stop the spread of wrong information, DepEd reminded the public to think twice before believing or sharing posts that aren’t confirmed by official sources.
For the next school year, classes will begin on June 16, 2025, and end on March 31, 2026. This marks the return to the original school calendar before the changes made during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The agency said that it’s important to stay careful about what we believe and share. Misinformation can cause worry and confusion, especially for students and families. Always check the facts, especially when it comes to education.
“Muling pinaaalalahanan ng DepEd ang publiko na mag-ingat at maging mapanuri laban sa misinformation. Para sa opisyal na mga anunsiyo at impormasyon tungkol sa basic education, bisitahin lamang ang official DepEd Philippines social media accounts,” DepEd said.
