Alden Richards met the Hollywood actor who inspired him
Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards shared what he said to Hollywood actor Tom Cruise when they met in South Korea.
Alden is one of the most admired Pinoy actors of his generation. He showed his versatility not just in front of the camera but also behind the scenes. The Kapuso actor established his own production company that has done remarkable projects in its early stages and continues to do more.
Another milestone that Alden had just recently was when he met the actor who inspired him. Alden went to Seoul as one invited guests at the red-carpet premiere of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Tom Cruise greeted the guests personally. He shared a video about that one-in-a-million moment for him. It can be seen in the video that Alden Richards was having a conversation with the Hollywood actor.
In an interview with GMA Balitambayan, the Pambansang Bae shared that it was a surreal moment for him. “Hindi naman kami na-promise-an na may chance talaga maka-meet and greet si Mr. Tom Cruise, but nagkaroon ng opportunity,” Alden shared.
He also said that the Hollywood star’s team was really kind and apparently, he was given a chance to talk to Tom. Alden shared, “During the handshake, kaya hindi ko binitawan yung kamay niya because ramdam ko yung firmness ng handshake niya.”
This was the reason why he did the handshake again to show respect to the Hollywood actor. Then, the Kapuso actor shared what he said to Tom. He mentioned how the Hollywood actor inspired him through his work, stature as an actor, and the movies he made.
Aside from this, Tom also inspired him to make a relevant decision in his life. “Siya yung inspiration ko kung bakit hindi ako nag-i-stunt double with most of my action scenes,” he said.
However, when the scene is too dangerous already, that is the time when he would have a stunt double. Moreover, Alden Richards was also inspired by Tom Cruise’s character in Top Gun: Maverick to become a reservist pilot in the Philippine Air Force.
He admired how Tom did his scenes wherein he would fly a fighter jet. Alden told the Hollywood actor that he was inspired by that. The Kapuso star also expressed gratitude to Tom. “I thanked him for everything. Sabi ko, ‘Thank you so much for your work and for inspiring a lot of people. Not only people, but most of the time, you inspire a lot of actors like me,” Alden Richards said.
He also said to Tom that he hoped they would work together soon and the latter hugged the Kapuso actor. Alden admitted that he was surprised by the opportunity he had. He also commended the Hollywood actor’s way of facing his fans and this reminded him of being humble.
