PAGASA Says ITCZ and Easterlies to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that cloudy weather with chances of rains will prevail across of the country.  

On Saturday (May 17, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The ITCZ and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.  

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that the Intertropical Convergence Zone and the easterlies, rains will likely be felt in many parts of the country.

MA huge portion of Luzon will experience a hot noon while there’s a big chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, especially in parts of Central Luzon, including Metro Manila, parts of Calabarzon, and Mindoro area,” Badrina said.  

The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, and Palawan.  

Generally fair weather with chances of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening is expected over the rest of the Visayas.

“In Eastern Visayas, expect cloudy skies, scattered rains, lightning, and thunder in areas of Samar, Leyte, and Biliran due to the ITCZ,” he explained.  

The easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.  

A huge portion of Mindanao where the ITCZ prevails will experience cloudy skies, scattered rains, and lightning and thunder,” Badrina added.

No low-pressure areas are expected to form within the Philippine Area of Responsibility.  

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to at times heavy rains and thunderstorms.  

PAGASA did not raise a gale warning over any of the country’s seaboard.
