According to the President, the most important lesson that the new military members carry is the understanding that the current warfare “goes beyond land, seas, and skies”. He stressed that there are invisible battles that take place in the cyberspace, thus, physical strength and agility aren’t enough.

“We have battles that are invisible to radar—ones that take place in cyberspace, in protecting information, in safeguarding the environment, and in helping communities during crises… What we need just as much—are your mental sharpness and your compassion,” he expressed.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos also mentioned the current inclusion in the courses in the military academy. He cited artificial intelligence, strategic thinking, drone operations, and ethical leadership amongst others.

According to Marcos Jr., the above-mentioned inclusions in the military course are all important but he believes that “possibly the most important, is your love of country”.

“An officer who knows how to love his or her country despite its flaws, in the most sincere way,” the President said.

Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also said in his speech that the Philippines needs people who put their country and others above their own selves and sacrifice for the good. He also cited that the country needs men and women who get through the challenges because they believe in the bright future ahead.

“Wherever your duty may take you, may it be in the mountains, in the seas, or communities, serve with dignity, serve with honor, serve with love… And I hope that when you are at your lowest, you will remember that you have your fellow Filipinos who are praying for you and are supporting you and are behind you,” the President said.

Among the graduates of the Philippine Military Academy this year, a street vendor’s son finishes as summa cum laude at PMA.
