AVSEGROUP Says SUV Driver in Deadly NAIA Accident Released From Police Custody After Posting Bail
The SUV driver in the deadly NAIA car crash has been released from police custody after posting bail, AVSEGROUP says.
On Friday (May 16, 2025), the Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) reported that the SUV driver has been released from police custody after posting bail.
The court allowed his temporary freedom after he paid P100,000, following a release order from the Pasay City Regional Trial Court.

The car crash incident happened on May 4, when a black SUV slammed into the Departure Curbside Area of NAIA Terminal 1. The crash killed a 4-year-old girl and a 29-year-old man, and also left several other people hurt.
The driver, a 47-year-old man from Batangas, was arrested on the spot by airport police.
Authorities conducted medical and drug tests on the driver, and results showed he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash. He was later cleared of injuries after a hospital check-up and turned over to his live-in partner.
Police say the driver originally claimed another vehicle had caused him to panic, but CCTV footage showed that this was not true. He is now facing serious charges including reckless imprudence that led to double homicide, multiple injuries, and property damage.
As a result of the crash, the Land Transportation Office ordered a 90-day suspension of his driver’s license.
The incident came just days after another tragic road accident on Labor Day, prompting transport officials to act.

The Department of Transportation has since announced new rules to improve road safety, including shorter driving shifts for public transport drivers, mandatory regular drug testing, and stricter vehicle checks.
Authorities are continuing their investigation as legal proceedings against the NAIA crash driver move forward. Meanwhile, calls for safer roads and more responsible driving grow stronger among the public.
