This is what Ogie Alcasid shared about their thriving blended family.
OPM icon Ogie Alcasid shares how his blended family setup with Michelle van Eimeren worked successfully and peacefully.
There is a beauty in second chances, and one of them is being in a blended family. This is quite an unconventional setup for a family, but there’s an expanded support system, growth, maturity, lessons in acceptance, celebrating new traditions, and loving by choice.
For OPM icon Ogie Alcasid, their blended family setup has been working well and thriving through the years. Alcasid was married to Michelle van Eimeren, with whom he shares two daughters, Leila and Sarah. When they separated, he married Asia’s Songbird, Regine Velasquez.
He also did not know how things worked out, but right now, he and his ex-wife are the best of friends, and he is also on good terms with her new husband.
But what he thinks is that letting go of old wounds and holding no grudges are keys to fully accepting and embracing everything.
“Kaming apat I think subconsciously or unconsciously, talagang kina-career namin na magkita-kita kami ‘pag Pasko,” he said as he shared that they always exert effort to spend time together, especially on special occasions.
According to him, they spent a few days in Sydney last year to celebrate the graduations of Sarah, Leila, and Michelle. It was an important moment, and they could never let it pass without spending and celebrating it together.
“Lately, kasi namatay ang mommy ni Michelle, two months ago, I went there again. Family ako eh. Ako nagbuhat ng casket, siyempre ako rin ‘yung singer. And that’s how we are, we are family,” he also shared.
He really worked hard to build such a setup, and as time passes by, their connections just run deeper as a family.
