Detained televangelist and senatorial candidate Apollo Quiboloy is calling for a manual recount due to these reasons.
In a statement released by Apollo Quiboloy’s camp on Tuesday night, his spokesperson, Atty. Israelito Torreon, expressed his desire for a manual recount. In the Halalan 2025, Senator Bong Go is leading the senatorial race, followed by Bam Aquino.
In the statement, they thanked the people who voted for Quiboloy. As much as we all know, he is a part of the “DuterTEN” or the 10 senatorial candidates supported by former President Rodrigo Duterte.
According to the partial and unofficial result as of May 14, 2025, 12:15 AM, and from 97.36% of Election Returns, he is in 31st place with 5,578,173 votes. The post said, “Your trust and belief in his message of truth, justice, and accountability have been truly moving.”
However, the fight doesn’t end for them yet. It added, “With numerous reports of overvoting anomalies, inconsistencies in ballot readings, and other electoral irregularities, Pastor Quiboloy calls for a manual recount of the senatorial votes.”
This call is accordingly not to reject the democratic process, “but a call to strengthen it.”
They want to seek justice and pursue legal avenues to ensure the integrity of each vote. However, the call will not be executed as per Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia, as it is not mandated by the Republic Act No. 9369 or the Automated Election Law.
Among the Duterte-backed senatorial candidates, Bong Go, Bato dela Rosa, and Representative Rodante Marcoleta have made it to the “Magic 12” based on the unofficial result.
To recall, Quiboloy was arrested at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ compound in Davao City. He’s been hiding for months after he was accused of human trafficking and child and sexual abuse. He is currently detained at the Pasig City Jail.
