Fake Paracetamol Found in the Market, Public Urged to Be Careful
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public about fake paracetamol circulating in the market.
Fake medicine, also called counterfeit medicine, is a drug that is not what it claims to be. It may look like a real medicine, but it can be very harmful. Sometimes, fake medicine doesn’t have any of the right ingredients, so it won’t work at all.
Other times, it might have the wrong ingredients or the wrong amount, which can cause serious side effects or even make a person feel worse. Some fake medicines are made in dirty or unsafe places, which makes them even more dangerous.

Recently, a counterfeit version of the popular brand Biogesic has made its way into the market, and it could pose serious health risks to those who unknowingly use it.
The fake product can be identified by the lot number 23651568 and has an expiry date marked as March 2028. Consumers are strongly advised to check these details carefully before making a purchase.
The FDA urges everyone to buy only from drugstores and establishments that are officially licensed and authorized to sell medicines. This ensures that the products are safe, properly stored, and legally sourced.

Selling or distributing fake medicine is not only dangerous but also illegal. Anyone caught selling such fake products could face serious legal consequences.
Establishments are reminded not to offer the counterfeit Biogesic for sale. Selling or distributing this fake product violates Republic Act No. 9711, also known as the FDA Act of 2009, and Republic Act No. 8203, the Special Law on Counterfeit Drugs.

To protect public health, the FDA is also asking local government units and law enforcement agencies to monitor their areas and prevent the distribution or use of the counterfeit drug. Their cooperation is important to keeping communities safe from the harmful effects of fake medicines.
Consumers who suspect they’ve purchased the counterfeit Biogesic should report it to the FDA immediately. Staying alert and informed can help stop the spread of fake drugs and keep everyone safer.
