Elderly Woman w/ Suspected Dementia Found Soaked and Shivering in Rain
CAPAS, TARLAC – An elderly woman with suspected dementia was found soaked and shivering in the rain.
A family in Capas, Tarlac, was shocked to hear the cries of an elderly woman outside their home. When they went to check, they were surprised to find their elderly neighbor lying in the grass, soaking wet and shivering in the cold rain.
According to Arvin Sapinit, who shared the video on social media, the incident happened around midnight when the rain was pouring heavily. The grandmother, who is 99 years old, was pale and very weak when they found her.

Without hesitation, they brought her inside their house and called the barangay for help.
Arvin recalled that earlier in the day, he saw the elderly woman cutting grass outside her home. At that time, it wasn’t raining yet. Although there were people in her house, it’s unclear why no one heard her cries for help during the night.
Barangay officials later arrived and helped bring her safely back home. They explained that her family members were already asleep and didn’t notice that she had gone outside. It’s possible that she was experiencing an episode of dementia, which may have caused her to wander off.

The woman’s grandson, who is also her caregiver, denied accusations of neglect. He said that his grandmother sometimes insists on going out and manages to slip away unnoticed. He admitted that he failed to find her that night despite trying to look for her.
However, he was upset that the video was posted online, as it led to negative comments about their family.
Barangay staff found no signs of abuse. They believe the incident may have been an isolated case. Arvin clarified that his only intention was to remind families to care for their elderly loved ones with patience and attention.
“Ingatan natin. Saka hindi na po nila masasabi kung ano ang gusto nila. Iyan po nasa bahay na lang iniingatan, inaalagaan, pinapakain,” Arvin said.
