Bituin Escalante admitted that her name puts pressure on her
Singer Bituin Escalante shared the story behind her name, which is one of the unique Filipino names.
Bituin has proven her singing caliber. Many people admire the quality of her voice and the emotion she gives every performance.
In a recent interview, the singer shared how the Bituin was given to her as a name. She shared that her parents had thought of several names for her.
However, those names were not followed. Eventually, when she was baptized, her aunt was the one who gave that name to her, based on the article in ABS-CBN Entertainment.
“Alam mo, walang logic yun. They were going to name me Nicole, another name was Amanda, and so many names lined up. Tapos parang sa binyag na, biglang sinabi nung aunt ng mommy ko, Bituin. You needed a Christian name. Tapos sinabi nung pare, ‘Saan galing yung pangalang yan?’ (Sagot nila) sa langit,” Bituin Escalante said.
However, the singer admitted that there is pressure to this and this amused her. When his commanding presence on stage was the topic, Bituin said that she was not aware of this.
She only had an idea about this when peers would tell her about this. For her, she is just a storyteller and is just focused on presenting on stage.
Meanwhile, in the same interview, Bituin Escalante talked about being one of the “hurados” or judges of It’s Showtime’s Tawag ng Tanghalan. She shared that she is really careful in giving feedback to the contestants.
“I don’t care about careers. Pag matibay yung tao, you know, they lose a contest, they move on, they find careers. But if it’s the spirit that you break, my gosh. That’s different,” the actress said.
On the other hand, she believes in healthy criticism because it can be helpful to the contestants, and that this will empower them. She added that it is fine to give your two cents but not to the point of breaking someone’s spirit.
