Sen. Imee Marcos Speaks on Relationship w/ Brother Pres. Bongbong Marcos amid Political Turmoil in PH Gov’t
IMEE MARCOS – The Senator expressed her side on some people saying it’s not good that she sided with the Dutertes over Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Sen. Marcos is one of the government officials who expressed their disappointment over the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Following the controversial turn of events last March 11, the Senator skipped the campaign sorties of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago.

Sen. Marcos was one of the senatorial bets of the Alyansa backed by her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos. However, following Duterte’s arrest, she did not join the Tacloban and Cavite campaign sorties.
Following the first Senate hearing on the arrest of former Pres. Duterte, Sen. Imee Marcos officially left Pres. BBM’s Alyansa. According to her, the recent actions of the government do not match her ideals and principles in life.

Sen. Marcos decided to campaign with the local candidates. Pres. Bongbong Marcos changed the Alyansa‘s chant after Senator Imee’s exit from the admin’s senatorial slate. His sister is endorsed by Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.

Vice Pres. Duterte campaigned for Sen. Marcos saying that she is different from PBBM. She also apologized to the Filipinos for endorsing Marcos Jr. in 2022. Previously, the Senator also expressed regret on convincing Duterte to run for vice president in 2022 under her brother’s ticket.
Countless Filipinos are undeniably confused over the ties between Pres. Bongbong Marcos and Sen. Imee Marcos now. Recently, based on a post on social media, the Senator was asked about her reaction to people saying that she took the side of the Dutertes over her own brother.
“Masamang-masama ang loob ko ngunit ang akin lamang, kailanman hindi kami nag-away ng aking kapatid. ‘Yung mga amuyong sa Palasyo, ‘yung mga nariyan, ‘yung mga lolong, eh ‘yun, sila, sila po ang aking kaaway,” the Senator said based on the post.
In one of the campaign sorties they attended, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that Sen. Imee Marcos was allegedly disowned by her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The Vice President threw several jokes in Manila campaign sorties that elicited different reactions.
