Authorities Arrest Man for Allegedly Abusing Live-In Partner’s Minor Sister
A man was arrested in Valenzuela City for allegedly abusing the younger sister of his live-in partner, who was a minor when the incident happened.
The authorities arrested a 36-year-old man in Valenzuela City after being accused of sexually abusing the younger sister of his live-in partner, who was a minor when the incident happened.
The arrest was made based on a warrant involving two counts of rape under Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code, in connection with Republic Act 7610, which protects children from abuse and exploitation.
According to the police, the abuse began in 2017 and happened again in August 2020. At that time, the victim was only 16 years old. After the second incident, she told her mother what had happened, and together they filed a formal complaint against the suspect.
“Since 2017 ay nagkakaroon na ng pangmomolestiya dito sa menor de edad na biktima. So naulit ulit noong August ng 2020. Nagsumbong na itong biktima sa nanay nila at nag-lodge na sila ng complaint against dito sa then suspect na ngayon ay accused na nga,” Valenzuela City Chief of Police Colonel Nixon Cayaban.
The case eventually led to the issuance of an arrest warrant. The suspect is now detained at the Valenzuela City Police Station custodial facility. He claimed that the victim agreed to what happened, and that the situation was influenced by emotions and family problems.
However, authorities clarified that such claims do not excuse the crime, especially since the law does not recognize consent from a minor.
“Sa totoo lang, gusto niya rin ‘yung nangyari noong panahon na iyon. Siyempre parang dala na lang din ng… natukso na lang din. Sa tingin ko may galit din kasi ‘yun sa magulang ko eh, kasi noong time na ‘yun nag-away ‘yung nanay ko tsaka siya,” the accused said.
The return of warrant has already been submitted, and the police are waiting for the court to issue a commitment order that will move the suspect to a proper detention center.
