Recently, Sen. Imee Marcos held a press conference and expressed her findings on the Senate investigation conducted over the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Senator suggested the investigation of some Cabinet officials by the Ombudsman.

According to Marcos, they may be liable for grave misconduct, arbitrary detention, graft, and usurpation of judicial functions. She named the following:

  • Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla
  • Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil
  • Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla
  • Ambassador Markus V. Lacanilao
  • Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Nicolas Torre III

Sen. Imee Marcos also reiterated her belief that the arrest of Duterte was allegedly “politically motivated”. In a chance interview, Pres. Bongbong Marcos was asked about his reaction to his sister’s findings.

“Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I disagree,” Pres. Bongbong Marcos said.

Based on the report, Malacañang also reacted to the findings saying that it was no longer a surprise. According to Palace press undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro, it is already visible on which Sen. Imee Marcos allegedly leans even before the probe has began.

“Bago pa naman po siguro nag-hearing ay makikita na po natin kung saan ba nagawi ni Senator Imee Marcos,” Malacañang said.

After leaving the Alyansa, Sen. Imee Marcos is endorsed by Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who said she’s different from Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
