Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Campaigns for Sen. Imee Marcos’ Senatorial Bid
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President teased Senator Imee Marcos telling her to change her surname during former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno’s campaign rally.
Amid the unexpected turn of events last March 11 that led to the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the immediate transfer of his custody to the International Criminal Court, countless people were also surprised by the ties of Vice Pres. Duterte and Sen. Imee Marcos.

The arrest of former Pres. Duterte created a huge gap between the supporters of the Dutertes and the Marcoses. However, amid the political turmoil in the Philippine government, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte reaffirmed her friendship with Sen. Imee Marcos.
Sen. Marcos vocally expressed her disappointment over the arrest of FPRRD. She also opened an investigation in the Senate over the arrest of the former President. She believes that there was no due process in the arrest of Duterte.

Shortly after the Vice President returned to the Philippines, Sen. Imee Marcos was endorsed by Vice Pres. Sara Duterte through the “ITIM” campaign ad. In the said campaign ad, the Vice President said that black is the current color of the country due to hunger and criminality. The Senator also claimed that the country is not only hungry for food but for justice as well.

Recently, Sen. Marcos and Vice Pres. Duterte attended the campaign rally of former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. The former Mayor who ran for president in 2022 but lost to Duterte’s running mate, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, is running for the mayoralty race this 2025 Midterm polls.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, at the campaign rally of former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte teased Sen. Imee Marcos to change her surname. She also jested on the middle name of the presidential sister.
“Magpalit ka na po ng apelyido mo. Ay, Romualdez pala yung middle name mo,” Vice Pres. Duterte told Sen. Marcos.
Based on the report, the Vice President also teased the Senator asking her if she is sure about staying in their tandem. Sen. Imee Marcos left the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago led by Pres. Bongbong Marcos over Duterte’s arrest.
