Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s Eldest Child Paolo Duterte Arrives in The Hague, Netherlands
PAOLO DUTERTE – The eldest son of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte had a moment with his father inside the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention facility.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is currently detained in the Hague Penitentiary Institution for more than a month now. His ICC legal team has been finalized and it is led by British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has returned to the Philippines early this month after she has finalized the ICC legal team of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. Aside from Nicholas Kaufman, French lawyer Dov Jacobs is also part of the legal team of the former President as an associate counsel.
VP Sara returned to the Philippines upon the request of former Pres. Duterte who wants her to come back to the country. She is now set to face the impeachment trial against her. Her older brother, Davao City First District Congressman Paolo Duterte, has recently arrived in The Hague, Netherlands.
Duterte’s long-time partner Honeylet Avanceña is still in The Hague now. She and Congressman Pulong met outside the ICC detention facility and visited former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. According to her, she will be Paolo’s guide for a week before she returns to the country.
Recently, Davao City First District Rep. Paolo Duterte spoke to the Filipinos outside the ICC detention facility. Based on a post on the Facebook page Alvin & Tourism, the Congressman confirmed the previous statement of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte that their family is closer now amid the ICC legal battle of the former President.
According to Cong. Pulong, it was only recently when he realized that it is great to hug his father. Based on the post, Honeylet said that former Pres. Duterte and his eldest son had a “moment” inside the ICC detention facility.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was always busy for the country while they were growing up. She stressed that it was only recently when they have renewed their relationship and had several father-and-daughter moments inside the ICC detention facility.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte thanked Pres. Bongbong Marcos for her renewed relationship with her father — an action she tagged as a misunderstood “sarcasm” after the President responded to it. Marcos said he’s glad to have helped in restoring the father-daughter relationship between FPRRD and the Vice President.
Amid the division among the Duterte and Marcos supporters now, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte reaffirmed her ties with Sen. Imee Marcos. The Senator expressed support on former Pres. Duterte and leads the Senate committee investigation on his arrest.
