Sen. Imee Marcos Speaks on Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero
IMEE MARCOS – The Senator hit back at Senate President Chiz Escudero and claimed that she has forgotten about campaigning”.
Sen. Marcos is one of the current government officials who are against the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. She even led the Senate investigation on the arrest of the former President.

The recent actions of Sen. Imee Marcos is undeniably causing confusion on many Filipinos. The Senator left the Alyansa which is led by her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also endorses Sen. Imee Marcos.
In the Senate, three (3) hearings have been conducted already on the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The cabinet officials have attended the first and third Senate hearings.

Previously, the Cabinet officials refused to attend the second Senate hearing on Duterte’s arrest. In a letter address to Sen. Imee Marcos and Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero, executive secretary Lucas Bersamin claimed that all the matters not covered by the executive privilege has been discussed already.

Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero initiated a communication with the executive department and Malacañang agreed on the attendance of the cabinet officials to the April 10 probe. Sen. Imee Marcos led the investigation.
During the hearing, Special Envoy on Transnational Crimes Ambassador Markus Lacanilao was cited for contempt and was detained. However, after a few hours, he was reportedly released.
Marcos claimed that Escudero refused to sign the contempt order which leads to the release of Lacanilao. However, the Senate President had a different claim. According to him, Lacanilao was detained even before the detention order was sent to his office.

Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero called on Sen. Imee Marcos not to use the Senate for her personal goals. Recently, the Senator spoke on Senate Chief. Based on a report on Inquirer, she called her ambitious.
“The claims that the hearing is being used for politics are also funny because we know that he is the ambitious one. I have forgotten about campaigning,” Marcos said.
Based on the report, the Senator also claimed that she finds being told to return to the Rules of the Senate funny. According to her, “you cannot find anything about issuing a show-cause” order.
Escudero has yet to respond to Marcos. Recently, Sen. Imee Marcos asserted that the endorsement of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is not a reward.
