Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Issues Holy Week 2025 Message for Filipinos

SARA DUTERTE – As many Filipinos join the Holy Week 2025 celebration, the Vice President tells the people that it is time for healing.

Among the many countries across the globe, the Philippines is one of the Christian countries that greatly observes the Holy Week every year. There is a huge population of Roman Catholics in the country and this religious event is considered as one of the biggest events every year.

The Holy Week spans from the Palm Sunday, which was yesterday for this year, until the Easter Sunday on April 20. Pres. Bongbong Marcos has declared April 17 and April 18 as regular holidays in the country in observance of the Maundy Thursday and the Good Friday.

April 19, the Black Saturday, is a special non-working day in the country. Pres. Bongbong Marcos has already ordered the law enforcers to ensure the safety of the people this Holy Week. Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has issued her message for the Filipinos on this religious event that commemorates the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, in her message for the Filipinos this Holy Week 2025, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed that the Holy Week is an invitation for us for healing, conversion, and to look back to the values that we Filipinos hold dear — concern, faith, and unity. She recognized that the country is going through a huge challenge now and the disunity of the people is getting deeper.

“Magsilbi sanang ilaw sa atin ang sakripisyo ni Hesus at patatagin natin ang ating pananampalataya sa mga panahong tayo ay nagiging mahina, nawawalan ng pag-asa, o punong-puno ng pasanin, galit, at mga hangaring laban sa ating kapwa,” the Vice President said.

Based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed her hope that we will be able to follow God’s love, teach about it, spread it, and use it in pushing forward and strengthening the faithful community that serves the fellow Filipinos and the country.

“Manalig tayo. Magkaisa tayo. Malalampasan natin ang dilim,” Duterte said.

Countless Filipinos are expected to return to their home provinces this Holy Week. There are also families who go out of town during the Holy Week to places where they can reflect and meditate.

Aside from Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, Pres. Bongbong Marcos has also issued his message to the Filipinos this Holy Week 2025.
