Authorities Arrest Man After Hostage Drama Involving 2-Year-Old Girl
HOSTAGE DRAMA – A man was arrested after taking a two-year-old girl at Bulungan Market in Parañaque as hostage.
On Sunday, April 13, 2025, a man suddenly grabbed a two-year-old girl and held her hostage with a knife at Bulungan Market in Barangay La Huerta, Parañaque City.
CCTV footage showed the man walking through a narrow alley carrying the child, followed closely by worried residents. According to police reports, the suspect picked up the girl while she was playing inside the market.

The suspect pulled out a knife and walked with the child for over a kilometer.
Authorities quickly responded and began negotiating with the suspect. The standoff lasted for about an hour before officers managed to bring the situation under control. One police officer suffered multiple cuts during the rescue and required stitches, but played a key role in subduing the suspect when the opportunity arose.
The child’s grandmother, Rossana Bantillan, expressed deep fear and concern upon hearing what had happened. She shared that the man had earlier approached the child’s father, who ran for help not realizing his daughter had been taken.
Family members and residents did not hesitate to follow the suspect throughout the ordeal, making sure he didn’t escape. They described the knife he carried as sharp enough to be used for slaughtering pigs.
Eventually, the child was rescued safely and is now back with her family. The suspect, who has no known relation to the girl and was unfamiliar to locals, was arrested on the spot. He now faces several charges, including serious illegal detention, child abuse, alarm and scandal, and illegal possession of a deadly weapon.
Authorities commended the quick action of the police, whose efforts ensured the child was saved without further harm.
