Taytay Rizal Vice Mayor Pia Cabral Apologizes Over Viral Video Involving Animals

PIA CABRAL – Taytay, Rizal Vice Mayor who is running for reelection, earned criticism online after a video of her campaign went viral.

In the video, she was seen chasing a dog and startling other animals during her house-to-house campaign. She captioned the video “Aso ka lang,” which did not sit well with the online community.

Many netizens, animal lovers, and advocates were quick to call her out, saying the video was unnecessary and disrespectful. Some even questioned her intentions and labeled her actions as inappropriate, especially for someone running for public office.

Recently, Vice Mayor Cabral later apologized through a Facebook post. She clarified that she had no intention to harm or belittle any animal. She explained that the video was meant to be playful and that she immediately removed it to avoid further misunderstanding. According to her, she is also a fur-mom who treats her pets as family.

Cabral said that the phrase “Aso ka lang” was just an expression, meant to emphasize her commitment to reach every household in Taytay, even if she had to pass by barking dogs. She added that no animal was hurt and that her actions were not meant to mock or scare them.

The politician also pointed out that she has supported ordinances and resolutions in favor of animal welfare. Still, many netizens were left unimpressed, saying public officials should lead by example, especially when it comes to showing compassion.
