Statement of Malacañang on Honeylet Avanceña’s Remarks against PH, Marcos Jr.
Malacañang gave a statement after former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s partner, Honeylet Avanceña, congratulated the Philippines and Pres. Bongbong Marcos over the crimes in the country.
Ahead of the 80th birthday of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte last March 28, his common-law partner, Honeylet Avanceña, and their daughter, Kitty Duterte, arrived in The Hague to visit him. The former President is detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for almost a month now.

Duterte is facing allegations of crimes against humanity over the war on drugs of his administration. According to Duterte, everything he did, he did it for the country. He previously said many times that he is not afraid of the ICC and he will take accountability of the happenings during his term.
The arrest and the transfer of custody of the former President to the ICC sparked outcry among his supporters. The Duterte supporters are calling on the government and the Supreme Court to mandate his return to the country.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) last March 11. He was with his common-law wife, Honeylet Avanceña, and their daughter, Kitty, when he was arrested. They also stayed with him during his detention at the Villamor Air Base. Malacañang stressed that the government only did its job.

Recently, at The Hague, Netherlands, Honeylet Avanceña made a staunch remarks that did not only get the attention of the online community but as well as Malacañang. Duterte’s partner Honeylet Avanceña congratulated the Philippines and Pres. Bongbong Marcos over the crimes in the country.
It was unclear if Avanceña was referring to the case of Anson Que, a Chinese-Filipino steel magnate whose body was found in Rodriguez, Rizal along with the dead body of his driver.

The remarks of Honeylet Avanceña earned a reaction from Malacañang. Based on a report on GMA News, Palace press officer Atty. Claire Castro stressed confusion on the attitude of Duterte’s partner.
“Hindi natin malaman bakit ganoon ang naging attitude ni Ms. Honeylet. Parang ikinatutuwa pa ba niya na may mga ganitong sitwasyon sa bansa?” Castro said.
Based on the report, the Malacañang Press Officer also said that the said kind of situation should not be a subject of fun. The Palace gave a message for Honeylet Avanceña,
“Hindi po ginagawa na katatawanan ang isang ganitong klaseng sitwasyon… Kaya kay Ms. Honeylet Avanceña, huwag ninyo pong gawin na issue dahil may buhay po ditong nakasalalay, may mga buhay na nawala,” Castro said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is now back in the Philippines after the ICC legal team of her father has been set. It will be led by British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman who vowed to fight for Duterte until the end.
