Are Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Sen. Imee Marcos Still Friends?
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President spoke on her ties with Senator Imee Marcos following the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos undeniably earned a lot of criticisms over the unexpected turn of events last March 11 that led to the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. There are “betrayal” accusations against the President.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed to Pres. Bongbong Marcos that his duty is to the country and to mend personal relationships among families. Her statement came after Marcos Jr. expressed gladness when Duterte thanked her for her renewed relationship with former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
FPRRD is currently detained in the detention facility of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands. On the same day of his arrest, the former President was flown to Netherlands for the transfer of his custody to the ICC.
According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the government only acted on the arrest in lieu of its commitment with the Interpol. Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte slammed Marcos Jr. recalling that it was his father who gave former Pres. Marcos Sr. a hero’s burial.
The Davao City Mayor also told the President that he will never be loved and the people want former Pres. Duterte. According to him, they will stand up and fight back.
Surprisingly, Sen. Imee Marcos and Pres. Bongbong Marcos seemingly share opposing stance when it comes to the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Sen. Imee Marcos left the BBM-led Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago and even launched a Senate investigation on the former President’s arrest.
According to the Senator, she cannot accept what was done to the former President. She is one of those who hopes for the return of Duterte to the country.
It is no secret to the public that Sen. Imee Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte are friends. Following the arrest of her father wherein Pres. Bongbong Marcos is being blamed, the Vice President spoke on her relationship with the Senator.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said that she and Sen. Imee Marcos have no problem and they are still friends. Based on a report on Manila Bulletin, she stressed that she does not know the Senator’s side but she wants to believe that their friendship is “already beyond politics” now.
“Dalawa lang yun. It’s either nagpaplastikan kami or it’s really beyond friendship. I would like to believe that it’s beyond politics already,” Duterte said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is now back in the Philippines after the legal team of her father in his ICC trial has been finalized. His legal team is led by British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman.
