Atty. Christian Sia, Viral Pasig Candidate over “Single Mom” Joke, Speaks on Issue
Viral Pasig candidate for congressman Atty. Christian Sia made an accusation against Mayor Vico Sotto and his allies in the government.
Recently, on social media, a joke about solo parents by a candidate for congressman in Pasig earned him bashing. The candidate was identified as Atty. Christian Sia who is running for congressman in the opposition slate in the city.
At a caucus meeting, Atty. Christian Sia jested that women solo parents who still have their period and feel lonely may sleep with him once a year. The crowd allegedly laughed at the joke of the Pasig candidate.
Later on, Sia clarified that it is only a joke as he has a wife. The viral Pasig candidate earned the anger of countless netizens on social media who saw his statement as an insult to single mothers more than a joke.
A lot of netizens stressed that single moms should not be a subject of that kind of jokes as they work hard to raise their children alone. Sia earned several tags like rude. Previously, amid the bashing, the Pasig candidate apologized over his ‘single mom’ joke and explained his intention behind it.
According to the viral Pasig candidate, the audience are already bored when it comes to his time to speak to the crowd as many people have already spoken before him. He claimed that his joke was meant to awaken the audience and get their attention.
Atty. Christian Sia also claimed that the people should not be mad at him saying that the anger must be redirected to the uploader of the viral video. According to him, the uploader of the video did not include the part that show the crowd laughing at his joke.
However, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the viral Pasig candidate sees a different angle with his joke turning into a national issue. Atty. Christian Sia accused Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto and his allies for the said joke drawing flak.
Based on the report, a press release was distributed to the members of the media at the press conference held by Atty. Sia in Pasig City. In the said press release, the Pasig congressional candidate reportedly claimed that the administration could not answer the issues that their team is throwing against the Sotto admin.
“Ayon kay Sia, minamaniobra umano ng kanilang mga kalaban ang isyu upang mailihis ang tunay na usapin kung saan wala umanong maisagot ang grupo ni Mayor Vico Sotto sa mga isyung inilatag nila,” the press release read as per the report.
Pasig is hailed as the 4th richest city in Metro Manila. However, based on the report, the viral Pasig candidate claimed there are allegedly no healthcare facilities in the city and Sotto failed to come up with government infrastructures.
“Nakisakay naman agad sa isyu ang mga kaalyado ni Sotto at naglabas ng di-umano’y pagkondena sa biro ko pero hindi muna tinitingnan ang sariling ‘baho’ ng kanilang mga kasama sa slate,” the Pasig candidate for congressman claimed.
Several known individuals in different fields reacted to the controversial joke of Atty. Christian Sia. Beauty queen Shamcey Supsup called out Ian Sia for his joke and actress Angelu de Leon also reacted to the joke of the Pasig candidate.
