Angelu de Leon Calls Out Pasig Candidate Ian Sia for Controversial Comments on Single Mothers
ANGELU DE LEON – Actress and Pasig City councilor Angelu de Leon strongly criticizes Pasig candidate Ian Sia for his controversial remarks about single mothers.
Angelu de Leon has strongly criticized congressional candidate Christian “Ian” Sia for his controversial statements about single mothers. Expressing her outrage, De Leon condemned Sia’s remarks as offensive and misogynistic, especially at a time when society is recognizing the struggles and contributions of solo parents.
Taking to Facebook, De Leon made it clear that disrespect toward women has no place in Pasig. In an all-caps post, she declared, “BAWAL ANG BASTOS SA PASIG!” She also pointed out the insensitivity of Sia’s comments, which came right after Women’s Month and during a period of appreciation for single parents.

As the Chairperson of the Committee on Social Services and Solo Parent Affairs, De Leon reaffirmed her dedication to championing the rights and dignity of women, particularly single mothers. Having been a solo parent herself, she expressed deep disappointment, emphasizing that such remarks are not only demeaning to women but also reflect poorly on societal values.
She stressed that respect should be a core principle, especially for those seeking public office.

De Leon is currently seeking reelection as a councilor in Pasig City’s second district, aligned with Mayor Vico Sotto, Vice Mayor Dudut Jaworski, and Congressman Roman Romulo. Meanwhile, Sia is running under the opposition slate led by mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya, alongside actress Ara Mina and beauty queen Shamcey Supsup-Lee.
The controversy erupted after a video from a March 28 campaign event surfaced, capturing Sia making crude remarks about single mothers. His comments have since drawn sharp criticism, with women’s rights group GABRIELA denouncing them as degrading and unacceptable. The issue has sparked public outrage, with many calling for accountability from the congressional candidate.
