Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Relationship w/ Dad Rodrigo Now amid his ICC Detention
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President claimed she has gratitude for Philippine President Bongbong Marcos over her father-daughter relationship with former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte now.
Among the children of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, it was Vice Pres. Duterte who immediately flew to The Hague, Netherlands following his arrest. According to VP Sara, she’s the only one in their family with a Schengen Visa and is a lawyer.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte wants Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to immediately return to the Philippines. According to her, she will just set the legal team of her father, introduce them to her brothers and to Duterte’s common-law partner, Honeylet Avanceña, and return to the country.
The former President is detained in the Hague Penitentiary Institution for more than a week now. Honeylet Avanceña and Kitty Duterte also arrived in The Hague a few days prior to the 80th birthday of the former President last March 28.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed her gratitude for her father-daughter relationship with former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte now. Based on a report on GMA News, the Vice President said she has Pres. Bongbong Marcos to thank for it.
“This really is ironic, but I have to thank Bongbong Marcos because there was forgiveness between me and [former President Duterte] for all that has happened in our lives,” the VP said.
Based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed that she only talks about family matters with former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte now since they cannot discuss “legal anymore because it is understood inside that only the lawyers can discuss legal matters with the former president”.
According to VP Sara, her recent visit with the former President that lasted for almost three (3) hours was one of the longest meetings she had with her father. She stressed that he was always busy with the country.
Based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that she feels blessed. According to her, while it is sad that this father and daughter relationship is renewed while he is in detention, she’s grateful to have this time with her father citing that he’s already 80.
“And now, I have this every day with him talking about life, talking about family… There is a good side. But, yes, thank you [kay President Marcos],” the Vice President said.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s camp confirmed “working on” his interim release bid. The legal camp of the former Philippine President is led by British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman.
