CCTV Catches Man Stealing Eatery Owner’s Phone in Malabon
A man was caught on camera stealing a cellphone from an eatery owner in Barangay Longos, Malabon City.
The theft caused major inconvenience as the phone contained the victim’s e-wallet and important business contacts.
The incident happened at a small restaurant on Maya-Maya Street. The establishment was about to close when a man entered, pretending to place a last-minute order. Wanting to accommodate the customer, the owner agreed to prepare the food.
“Nag-order siya ng apat na meal, tapos ako lang mag-isa, single duty ako tapos kinuha ko lahat ng order niya. Pumasok ako saglit sa loob kasi nga ipe-prepare ko ‘yung order niya,” the owner said.
While the owner was busy cooking, the man sat down and observed his surroundings. Moments later, he casually approached the counter, peeked into the kitchen, and then grabbed the owner’s charging cellphone.
After taking the phone, he sat down briefly before sneaking away with the stolen device. The owner did not initially suspect anything because the man seemed well-behaved. However, he took advantage of the fact that the owner was alone, making it easier for him to execute the theft.
The incident was particularly frustrating as the restaurant had just opened last month. Losing a phone with important business information was a huge setback.
“Wala siyang binayad. Parang hindi ako masyadong nagduda sa kaniya kasi maayos naman siya. Naanuhan niya siguro na ako lang mag-isa kaya nagkaroon siya ng pagkakataon na magsalisi,” the owner added.
Currently, the theft has not yet been reported to the authorities. However, the barangay and police have assured the victim that they are ready to assist in resolving the case.
The incident reminds small business owners to stay vigilant, especially when handling customers alone. Keeping valuable items secure and being aware of suspicious behavior can help prevent similar crimes.
