Justice For Tiger – Dog Dies In Subic After Being Stabbed

People online call for justice for Tiger, an aspin that died in Subic.

JUSTICE FOR TIGER – Aspin in Subic dies after he was stabbed by a vendor when he stole some meat, and people online cry for justice.

From a dog shot with several Indian arrows to a golden retriever, Killua, who was beaten to death. A lot of heartbreaking stories of animal cruelty involving dogs have surfaced online, and the most recent to surface is the story of Tiger.

Out of hunger amidst a noisy market in Subic, Tiger searched for food and found some meat in the space of this one vendor without thinking of his fate. According to people, Tiger stole the meat, but what happened next was something unexpected.

Because of anger, the reaction put into action was stabbing, and the knife sliced through Tiger’s tiny body, revealing his organs. The stab unfortunately led to his death, but the moments in between life and death of unbearable pain were unimaginable to the dog, whose only desire was to ease his starvation.

His blood filled the floor and marked his path as he escaped from the offender, crying loudly in pain, unable to speak of what he felt and what he needed.

#JusticeForTiger went viral online, and the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) condemned the act. In a statement, PAWS expressed, “PAWS strongly condemns this horrific act of animal cruelty, and we are appalled that anyone could subject an innocent animal to such senseless violence.”

Killing dogs for their meat and for other reasons is never justified. In the Philippines, there are laws that protect animals against abuse, cruelty, and neglect. Through these laws, the suspects are held accountable and face punishment.

  • Republic Act 8485 – Animal Welfare Act of 1998 (prohibits maltreatment, torture, killing, neglect, and other forms of cruelty towards animals)
  • Presidential Decree No. 1602 – The Anti-Cruelty Law (penalizes acts of cruelty to animals, such as beating, torturing, killing animals, or including them for experimentation without proper authority)
  • Republic Act 10631 – Philippine Animal Welfare Act of 2013 (strengthens the Animal Welfare Act of 1998 and provides stricter penalties, higher fines, and longer imprisonment terms for offenders)
