Statement of Malacañang on ICC Saying PH Government’s Cooperation Crucial in Duterte’s Arrest
Malacañang denied the claim of the International Criminal Court (ICC) that the Philippine government allegedly cooperated with them in the arrest of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is detained in the detention facility of the ICC for more than a week now. Last March 11, the former Chief Executive of the Philippines was arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Manila and sent to The Hague, Netherlands via Dubai.

At the Hague Penitentiary Institution, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is requesting for his supply of Coke Zero as revealed by Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. He previously assured his supporters through his daughter that he is fine. He even wants the Vice President to return to the Philippines immediately.
However, back in the Philippines, the arrest of Duterte sparked outcry among his supporters as they question the presence of a due process over his arrest. The recent turn of events also created a huge gap between the supporters of the Dutertes and the Marcoses.

Duterte’s arrest earned the Philippine government and Pres. Bongbong Marcos countless criticisms. Malacañang previously defended the President and the government saying that the government acted on the arrest of the former President because of its commitment with the Interpol.

However, the recent remarks of International Criminal Court or ICC spokesman Dr. Fadi El Abdallah earned comments from many Filipinos. Based on a report on GMA News, the ICC Spokesperson claimed that the cooperation of the Philippines is crucial in the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Based on the report, Malacañang denied the claim of the ICC Spokesman that the government cooperated with the foreign court in the arrest of former Pres. Duterte. According to Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro, the stance of Pres. Bongbong Marcos remains.
”We have not been cooperating with the ICC. It’s clear because the stance of the President regarding the jurisdiction of the ICC over the Philippines remains,” Malacañang said.
Previously, Senator Bato dela Rosa slammed Pres. Bongbong Marcos over Duterte’s arrest. According to the Senator, the President allegedly did not stand by his words and betrayed the Filipino people and the country.
