Sen. Imee Marcos Wants To Focus in Investigating Former Pres. Duterte’s Arrest

IMEE MARCOS – The Senator skipped the campaign event of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago anew to focus on the arrest of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

The unexpected turn of events last March 11 shocked countless Filipinos. Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was arrested by the authorities of the PNP (Philippine National Police) and he was sent to the Hague, Netherlands.

The Filipino people has different reactions over the arrest of former Pres. Duterte. There are questions on the legality of the arrest of the former President. It earned Malacañang and Pres. Bongbong Marcos criticisms. Sen. Bato dela Rosa tagged Duterte’s arrest as Marcos’ alleged “betrayal”.

Imee Marcos said she cannot accept what was done to Duterte, thus, she skipped the Alyansa campaign rally in Tacloban as she thinks of ways to enlighten the Filipinos over what happened. The campaign sorties of the grand alliance is led by her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

Sen. Imee Marcos led the Senate committee investigation on the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. At the hearing, Marcos said it seems like Duterte has no country of his own when he was surrendered by the Philippines to foreign hands.

Following the Senate hearing, Sen. Imee Marcos said there seems to be no due process in the arrest of former Pres. Duterte. According to her, she and her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, have yet to talk about the arrest of the former President.

Recently, Sen. Imee Marcos once again skipped the Alyansa campaign rally which is led by Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the alliance held its campaign sortie in the huge province of Cavite but the Senator reelectionist skipped it to focus on the investigation of the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.

“Ang mahalaga sa akin ay tutukan ang kaso ng pagtangay sa isang kapwa Pilipino na isinuko ng ating pamahalaan sa isang banyagang institusyon sa ibang bansa,” Marcos said.

Based on the report, the Senator stressed that the investigation is important for the Filipino people, the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and the Philippine laws. According to her, it is not just about former Pres. Duterte but the sovereignty of the country.

Following the Senate hearing, Sen. Imee Marcos believes that there seems to be no due process in the arrest of former Pres. Duterte.
