Oil Price Hike Expected on March 25, 2025 (Tuesday), DOE Says
FUEL PRICE UPDATE – The Department of Energy is expecting an oil price hike starting next week after weeks of rollbacks.
The Energy Department announced that Filipino motorists should prepare for higher fuel prices next week after three consecutive weeks of rollbacks. The projection was based on recent trading trends.
Gasoline may increase by P0.60 to P1.20, diesel by P0.10 to P0.50, and kerosene by P0.10 to P0.40. The final figures will be determined after the last trading session of the week. These adjustments come after a series of price cuts that lowered diesel by P1.90 per liter, gasoline by P2.60 per liter, and kerosene by P3.60 per liter over the past three weeks.

“We will be expecting an increase in the prices of petroleum products by next week,” DOE Oil Industry Management Bureau Assistant Director Rodela Romero said.
Several global factors are driving this price increase. Rising tensions in the Middle East, particularly the expansion of military operations in Gaza and U.S. airstrikes on Houthi targets, have added uncertainty to the oil market.
Additionally, China’s recent economic measures to boost consumer activity are expected to raise demand for fuel. In the United States, a decline in oil reserves has also contributed to the upward price trend.

Fuel companies typically adjust prices every Tuesday, following announcements made the day before. With ongoing global instability and supply shifts, the upcoming hike may not be the last, as additional costs could push prices higher in the coming weeks.
Industry experts continue to monitor global trends, which will determine whether pump prices will stabilize or climb further in the next few weeks.
