Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro reminded Vice President Sara Duterte of her duties as VP, and this was her response.
“Hindi ko nakakalimutan ang aking trabaho diyan sa Office of the Vice President. Araw-araw kami nag-uusap ng aking mga kasamahan.”
This was the response of Vice President Sara Duterte after the Palace reminded her to continue fulfilling her responsibilities as the country’s second-highest official. During a briefing, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said that the country also needs her.
As much as we all know, the vice president is currently in The Hague to aid her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently detained in an ICC facility. As a daughter, the Palace expressed that what she feels is acceptable and understandable, but millions of Filipinos voted for her and they need her service.
From the Netherlands, she responded to this and expressed that she did not forget about her duties. However, as the VP, she also has a duty to one citizen who was held against his will at an ICC detention center.
She added that she is “multitasking” saying, “So yes, multi-tasking ako. Nandito ako as Vice President, ginagawan ng paraan kung paano maibalik ang ating dating Pangulo sa ating bayan. At tuloy-tuloy ang serbisyo namin para sa bayan.”
The vice president insists on not thinking of her situation as a daughter but on the fact that she is the VP and that her efforts are to bring a Filipino back to our country. She then claimed that she continues to perform her duties as vice president online.
During a virtual appearance before the Senate on Thursday, she said that the arrest of her father was a case of “extraordinary rendition.” She believed that the ICC arrest warrant was invalid because it was not reviewed by a local court.
